Was curious if after a lot of use do felt drum beaters need to be replaced to protect the head of the drum?

Was curious if after a lot of use do felt drum beaters need to be replaced to protect the head of the drum?
Generally speaking unless the beater is damaged it shouldn’t need replaced. Some wear and tear is normal. Do you have a photo?
